RENTON, WA - Celebrate the 4th of July along the picturesque shores of Lake Washington as the City of Renton presents a family-friendly 4th of July Celebration at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. The 16th annual event is presented by The Hyatt Regency Lake Washington.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with a co-ed volleyball tournament and ends at 10 p.m. with a spectacular 25-minute fireworks display. There will be free ActivityZones for kids in both the north and south ends of the park from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring inflatables, games, and face painting.

Enjoy live entertainment on the shore of Lake Washington from 4 to 9:30 p.m. A large lawn in front of the stage provides ample seating. The ActivityZones and live entertainment are sponsored by Coal Creek Family YMCA, Walmart, and The Landing.

Coulon Park covers 57 acres and stretches north along Lake Washington from the Southport Complex and has activities for almost everyone. There’s large grass areas for picnicking, a children’s play area, boat launch, docks, Ivar’s and Kidd Valley restaurants, a walking path that parallels the lake, and a beach with swimming area and lifeguards on duty from 12 to 8 p.m. daily.

On July 4, park gates will open at 7 a.m. On-site parking will be limited, but there will be a courtesy unload and load area near the boat launch from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Parking is available on the top two floors of the parking garage at The Landing, in lots at North Eighth Street, Park Avenue North, and Garden Avenue North, and along Houser Way North. Parking is not permitted along Lake Washington Boulevard North and vehicles in violation will be towed.

To prepare for the fireworks display and to expedite getting individuals out of the park at the end of the evening, Lake Washington Boulevard North will be closed to traffic from 9:30 p.m. until approximately 11:15 p.m.
