2022 SUMMER CAMPS SPOTLIGHT: Camp Fife & Teen Explorer Camp

Summer is coming! 

Kids ages 6 -15 will embark on weekly themed adventures, see new sights and learn life skills at Camp Fife and Teen Explorer Camp.


CAMP FIFE DETAILS 

Campers will create new connections and reach outside of their comfort zones for long-lasting personal development. Campers unplug from technology to commune with nature, realizing their roles in stewardship of the land. Campers grow emotionally and physically during their time at camp through a diverse range of activities. These activities range from swimming, nature excursions, arts, academics, and team-building exercises, which encourage creativity and self-confidence. The program also includes two field trips a week to local museums, parks, and educational organizations.

Dates: June 20 - August 26

  • WEEK 1: Magic of Camp: Abracadabra! Dust off your magic wands, cast your spells and get ready for a magical week at camp! Camp counselors are excited to meet you! Field Trips: Hands-On Children's Museum & Titlow Park 
  • WEEK 2: Artful Antics: Prep your pallet, and sharpen your pencils, Get ready to spend the week learning about and creating a multitude of art forms to prepare a showcase for all to see at the summer camp art gallery on Friday! Field Trips: Museum of Glass & Young Chefs Academy
  • WEEK 3: Amazing Animal Kingdom: Lions, tigers, and bears…OH MY! Get ready for a wild adventure at Camp. We will be learning about animals BIG and small. Field Trips: Seattle Aquarium & Cougar Mountain Zoo 
  • WEEK 4: Invention Convention: This week is all about invention! We’ll get creative with building, composing and discovering. Tinkertopia will be making a special appearance at camp! Field Trips: The Museum of Flight & Bug and Reptile Museum 
  • WEEK 5: Mad Science: Join us for a science-packed, crazy fun week! Campers will explore various science concepts chemical reactions, hands-on experiments, and creative projects. Field Trips: Movie Theatre (Minions 2) & Le May Car Museum 
  • WEEK 6: Fife's Got Talent: Jump on stage as we put together Camp Fife’s very own talent show! Campers will work together on a performance to dazzle the rest of camp on Friday! Campers will also take a trip to Cheney Stadium to cheer on the Tacoma Rainiers! Field Trips: Tacoma Rainier’s Game & Coulon Beach 
  • WEEK 7: Adventure Land: For our first adventure we will head to the skating rink! Next, we will head to Jefferson Splash Park for water play and group games! Field Trips: Roller Skating & Jefferson Splash Park 
  • WEEK 8: Time Travelers: Join us as we experience the living history of the past. Campers will spend the day learning the pioneer way of life, through play, nature exploration and creating a unique craft to take home. Field Trips: Pioneer Farms & The Cedar River Watershed 
  • WEEK 9: Super Splash: Get ready to get super soaked with your friends this week! Tuesday we’ll make a big splash at Henry Moss Aquatic Center. On Thursday we’ll slip n’ slide our way down to Kandle Pool. Did someone say water balloons and sprinklers? Field Trips: Henry Moss Aquatic Center & Kandle Pool
  • WEEK 10: Grand Finale: Aloha! The last tropical breeze is blowing into Camp Fife. Let’s break out the pineapples, limbo and leis. We’ll make most of our final week by celebrating each other and summer! Field Trips: Dave & Busters & Dash Point State Park BBQ

Time: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Location: Dacca Barn

Weekly cost: $195 Residents, $205 non-Residents

TEEN EXPLORER CAMP DETAILS

  • WEEK 1: Summer of 22:Welcome to Teen Explorer Camp! This week will put in the mood for summer with endless FUN in the sun! Field Trips: Dave & Busters & Henry Moses Aquatic Center
  • WEEK 2: Something Sweet: Who doesn’t love sweets? Since we can’t get enough, let’s go to Theo Chocolate Factory to sample and learn how their delicious chocolates are made. We'll also explore the great outdoors! Field Trips: Theo Chocolate Factory Tour & Tumwater Falls
  • WEEK 3: Stars and Stripes Forever: Teens will celebrate America by spending the day outside in nature and visiting the largest air and space museum in the world!  Field Trips: Disc Golf at NAD Park & The Museum of Flight 
  • WEEK 4: Adventure Awaits: This week will be an amazing adventure! We will travel to Shelton for a  unique experience of pedaling the historic Simpson Logging Company Railway in Washington’s beautiful Olympic Peninsula Field Trips: Pedal The Rails & Bug and Reptile Museum
  • WEEK 5: Local Legends: This week will be spent learning about our local legends! MO POP provides experiences for campers to create original music videos, explore fantasy worlds, and discover the world of science fiction. Field Trips: Museum of Pop Culture & Coulon Beach  
  • WEEK 6: Time Travelers:  Join us as we experience the living history of the past as we explore Seattle. Later in the week, we will jump abroad the tram for some sightseeing of our natural lands. Field Trips: Pike Place/Great Wheel & Northwest Trek
  • WEEK 7: Survivor: Can you complete the challenge on time? Teens will compete in various survivor challenges throughout the week including indoor rock climbing! Field Trips: Cirque Climbing Gym/Long Lake Park & Kandle Pool
  • WEEK 8: Going Green: Teens will learn about the benefits of caring for the planet. They will spend time outside in Fife’s very own community gardens and flow through the water cycle at The Cedar River Watershed. Field Trips: Mt Rainier & Rattlesnake Lake/ Nature Center 
  • WEEK 9: Artful Antics: Prep your pallet, sharpen your pencils, and get ready to create! Flex the right side of your brain as we explore the visual arts in another awesome week at camp. Get ready to spend the week learning about and creating a multitude of art forms. Field Trips: Throwing Mud Pottery Gallery & Museum of Glass
  • WEEK 10: Final Fling: Aloha! The last tropical breeze is blowing into Teen Explore Camp. Let’s break out the pineapples, limbo, and leis. We’ll make most of our final week by celebrating each other and summer! Field Trips: Catapult Adventure Park & BBQ at Dash Point State Park

Location: Columbia Junior High & Fife Community Center 

Weekly cost: $195 Residents, $205 non-Residents 

Ages: 12-15
