Stretch Your Creative Muscles

Art Opportunities for Youth at Tacoma Art Museum

By TAM May 26, 2016
Innovate, fabricate, and collaborate at Tacoma Art Museum this summer! Summer fun kicks off with a free Art Maker Fair on the eve of June 16 and I-Scream Social with free scoops from 11 am-1 pm on June 21. The biggest opportunities for youth to develop creative talents, though, are TAM’s well-loved Summer Camps. Strengthen your child’s creative abilities and problem-solving processes with a week of art-making fun!

TAM’s camps offer kids entering grades 2-8 a chance to learn from professional artists while making art and making friends. Organized field trips around the museum enrich the camp experience.

Scholarships are available! TAM provides before and after care, too; you can get a full day of work in while your child has an artfully good time!

TAM “Kids Create” Camps Entering grades 2–5, Monday-Friday, 9 am–5 pm.

Campers will think big and look close during investigations into how artists create. Select from three forms of art – printmaking, sculpture, or studio art glass – or take all three! Teaching artists will introduce campers to exciting materials and techniques, and lead expeditions into TAM’s galleries and around town to gather inspiration. Campers will pull it all together and welcome you to their art show at the end of camp to share their growing skills. See a list of camps here!
