Motherhood provides beautiful gifts and countless rewards. Right before your eyes, your children reflect the values and lessons you instill. There are proud moments and heartbreaks. As their mother, you respond to the endless demands, sacrifices, sleepless nights and unscheduled interruptions over and over. There’s nothing quite like the rewards of parenthood as you open your heart in small and large ways to your family. In many ways, your dream is their well-being, success and joy.
What about MY Dream?
One day a new question arises. You ask, “What about MY dream?” The words may be different, but the focus has shifted ever so slightly. At the core of the question is “What about me?” You may not even be willing to admit that question to yourself. You may push it down for weeks, months or even years. Or you might follow that question up with, “It’s not my time.” There’ll be time for me when – and you fill in the blank. Motherhood trains you to push down the question of your needs and desires. And that question stays down – until one day, it feels like you’re in a bit of a box. It doesn’t mean you love your family less, but more.

To be a great mom, you must feel great about both yourself and your life. The answer to that question may be more self-care, to bring more romance into your marriage, to have a getaway that’s more than a mani/pedi, or it may mean turning up the dial on your career. It may be time to re-enter the work force, up-level the focus on your career or to begin a home based business. There are endless possibilities.
